UN SG phone “strongly” condemning Pahalgam attack S Jaishankar expressed concern about India-Pak’s rise tensions | Indian News

UN Secretary-General António Guterres said on Tuesday that Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and “strongly” condemned the April 22 terrorist attack. He also expressed concern about rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
The UN Secretary-General also spoke with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during another telephone conversation on Tuesday.
His spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement on the official website of the UN Secretary-General: “The Secretary-General today spoke with him by phone Mr. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, who is Mr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India.”
It is reported that Guterres strongly condemned the terrorist attacks in India’s Jamu and Kashmir. He also pointed out the importance of pursuing justice and accountability through “legal means”.
The statement added: “The Secretary-General pointed out the importance of the pursuit of justice and responsibility through legal means for these attacks.”
In addition, the UN Secretary-General expressed concerns about rising tensions between the two countries and stressed the need to avoid confrontation.
The statement continued: “The Secretary-General is very concerned about the rise in tensions between India and Pakistan and stressed the need to avoid confrontations that could have tragic consequences. He provided a good office to support degradation efforts.”

Jaishankar also notified the phone in an article on social media platform X and said he thanked the UN Secretary-General for his “clear condemnation” of the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
He wrote: “Thanks to him for his clear condemnation of the Pahargam terrorist attacks. Agreeing to the importance of accountability.”
The Foreign Minister also clarified that India is determined to bring the perpetrators, planners and supporters of the attack to justice.
