Unilever’s former Cream Division establishes its first global center in Pune with investment of Rs 9 billion

New Delhi: Unilever Plc’s recent ice cream business, the Dutch-headquartered Facilities Ice Cream Company, will open its first global operation center in Pune and make investments ₹9 billion.
Magnum’s Global Capacity Centre (GCC) is expected to bring in Rs 9 billion worth of investment and provide employment to more than 500 people in unspecified periods.
The Global Capacity Center will provide information technology, supply chain, finance, human resources management and other critical services to Magnum’s global network.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devindra Fadnavis Announce The agreement between the state government and Magnum on X was signed, saying Magnum’s global capability center would create high-paying jobs.
Magnum Ice Cream Chief Financial Officer Abhijit Bhattacharya signed a memorandum of understanding Tuesday in the presence of Fadnavis and Maharashtra’s deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde.
Unilever’s cold crack
Unilever’s board of directors decided to separate the global consumer goods companies’ ice cream business in March last year and explained that the division has unique characteristics compared to other businesses.
Unilever’s ice cream business is 5 of the top ten ice cream brands in the world, including Wall’s, Magnum and Ben & Jerry’s. In total, its ice cream brand provided a total turnover of 7.9 billion euros in 2023.
The London-based consumer goods giant recently announced that its development entity that makes ice cream and frozen desserts will be called the Magnum Ice Cream Company.
Earlier this year, Unilever’s Indian business, Hindustan Unilever Co., Ltd. also announced plans to include its ice cream business in Kwality Wall (India) Co., Ltd. The ice cream company developed will be listed separately in India.
Unilever has several R&D centers around the world, including Bangalore and Mumbai. Several of these centers are involved in developing new products and processes for global consumer goods giants.
