Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Secretary of State for Rural Development and Communications of the Trade Union, welcomed the decision of the Union government to conduct a caste-based census, saying it was a step towards backward communities and had taken action to promote economic equality.

Dr Chandra Sekhar said in an official statement on Thursday that the caste census will serve as a guiding tool for inclusive development and benefit all communities. He also said that under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the initiative will align with the country’s development goals and the NDA’s broader vision for social welfare and equity.

Dr Chandra Sekhar shows that the caste census marks the beginning of major social change and helps eliminate long-standing social inequality. He noted that the NDA government has accelerated growth and welfare programs in the months it has served in the center.

He added that Andhra Pradesh entered a new era of development under Mr Naidu’s leadership and said that the caste census would further strengthen these efforts.
