UOH Physics Team Patent

The team of the University of Hyderabad Physics Team, led by V. Seshu Bai, has been patented (No. 566008) to innovate the use of nano-α alumina platelet-enhanced ceramic composites. This significantly improves the fracture toughness of alumina parts up to 80%, while maintaining high bending strength. Patented techniques involve enhancing alumina to improve mechanical properties, such as fracture toughness at high temperatures without degradation. The stability and strength of the composite make it ideal for use in aerospace and automotive components as a thermal insulator, dental implants, and more, the release said.
