US election: Donald Trump will lose to Kamala Harris if elections are held today

New strength in the Digital/Verasight poll says Kamala Harris will beat Donald Trump in a reenactment of the 2024 election. If the election is held today, 47% will vote for Harris and 42% will vote for Trump.

If those who want to vote are also counted, Harris will receive 40% of the popular vote, compared with 36% of Trump. The poll was conducted between May 1 and 6, with 1,000 adults and a 3.2% error margin.

Results of the 2024 U.S. election

Trump actually won in November 2024, beating Harris with 50% to 48% of the vote. He won a huge prize at the Election Academy, with a 312 votes against Harris 226, which ultimately won his favor.

Prior to that election, some polls showed Harris was leading or tied with Trump.

Of those who did not vote in 2024, 36% now support Harris and only 22% support Trump. But 43% of these non-voting people said they still won’t vote if there is a second chance.
Among those who voted in 2024, Harris and Trump tied for 43% respectively.
Harris lost in 2024, but many still think she could be a strong candidate in 2028.
She didn’t say whether she could run, but some of the Democrats thought she could. Some also said she may run for California governor in 2026.

Supporters say she had a better campaign than Joe Biden before she dropped out of school in 2024. They believe that despite being confused due to Biden’s poor health, she has helped bridge the gap with Trump.

But others in the party are fighting for new faces and new leaders instead of Harris. Some also say Harris has damaged her popularity by supporting moderate Republicans like Leeds Cheney.

After Trump launched the “Liberation Day” tariffs on April 2, his popularity has declined. Tariffs have caused the stock market to collapse, the worst stock since June 2020. Since then, many voters have distrust Trump’s trust in the economy.

In the same poll, more and more people don’t like how Trump handles the economy.

Only 38% said they approved, while 58% disapprove of the -17 score. Regarding price and inflation, worse, only 31% approved, while 63% did not, giving him a -32 score.

In addition, 53% said that the country’s economic situation has worsened in the past year. Only 25% of people think things will get better.

Polls show that Trump is not popular on all issues except borders/immigration.

Even for immigration, he almost didn’t advance, 49% disapprove and 47% approved. This is also caused by the FOX News Poll.

Trump won Flak for controversially expelling Kilmar Abrego Garcia of Maryland. The Justice Department calls it a “management error.” Trump administrator said Garcia was part of the MS-13 gang and is now labeled as a terrorist group. But his family and attorneys denied any gang contacts.

In the polls, half of them were told about Garcia’s story. Among them, support for all undocumented immigrants has dropped to 39%. 43% oppose mass expulsions.

When asked about people protected by courts like Garcia, 49% opposed their deportation, 29% supported their deportation, 22% were uncertain, 45% said those who were allowed to deport immigrants were allowed to return, and 35% said they should stay abroad.

If Kamala Harris runs again in 2028, this negative view of Trump may help her. She has not confirmed whether to run. But polls show she is now the leader.

Some other polls say Kamala Harris has performed poorly. In a poll of the April data progress, only 18% said they would vote for her in the Democratic primary.

Pete Buttigieg got 14%, AOC and Cory Booker got 12%, Newsom got 8%, Josh Shapiro got 5%, while Tim Walz, Gretchen Whitmer and JB Pritzker got 4%, respectively.

Other recent polls show different numbers. A writer from Echelon Insights in April showed Harris at 28%. A poll by Yougov since March showed her 25%. Since February, the U.S. survey rate has been 37%.

Here is what some politicians think of Kamala Harris, Senator John Hickenlooper of Colorado, told the Hill that Harris “will add value to the national dialogue.”
He added that many Democrats will have different views on the next step the party should focus on.
