Nora Aunor, a famous Filipino actor and film and radio art artist, passed away on April 16, 2025 at the age of 71. Her son, Kristoffer Ian De Leon, confirmed her death in a social media post. Known for her extensive career in television, music and film, Aunor works on 200 TV shows and films, winning multiple awards, including the Philippines’ highest honor for art in 2022.

Her son Ian de Leon shared the news of his aunt’s death on Facebook: “We love you, mom. God knows how much we love you. Nora’s daughter Maret also expressed her love, saying, “I love you mom.” ”

He then reposted the message of memorizing his mother: “We shared the death of our beloved mother, Nora C. Villamayor “Nora Aunor”, who left us on April 16, 2025 at the age of 71. She is the heart of our family. She is the heart of our family – unconditional love, strength, strength and warm speech, her kindness, good at speaking.
The cause of death has not been formally confirmed by the family or authorities. Nora Aunor underwent a surgery at Pasig Hospital, but did not provide further details, according to an inquirer from the Philippines news agency.

Born in a poor family in Iriga, Aunor started her career as a singer in the 1960s before transitioning to acting. She became an outstanding figure in Philippine entertainment.


Her film honors include the 1995 “Flor Detection Story”, where she played the role of a Filipino maid in Singapore. Aunor has won local and international awards for her performance in the film. Her latest appearances include the 2024 TV series – Lilet Matias, Attorneys and Musical – ISANG HIMALA-.Aunor married Filipino actor Christopher de Leon from 1975 to 1996. “She has moved generations with her unparalleled talent, elegance and passion for craftsmanship. Her voice, presence and artistry have shaped a legacy that will never disappear,” she wrote.

The tribute was pouring in on social media, with many acknowledging the contribution of the Als to the Filipino cinemas. One pointed out that two icons of the Philippine entertainment industry have recently passed.

Another commented that Ono received national artist honors throughout his life.
