US Vice President Vance visits India 2-intation Tour early next week

New Delhi: U.S. Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha, the second wife of India, will visit India early next week, which will lead him to talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as global trade disruption to the Trump administration tariffs continue to increase.
Vance is expected to bring their three children – Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel to India, while the second American family will travel to Jaipur and Agra, except for New Delhi.
“The Vice President will discuss common economic and geopolitical priorities with leaders of each country,” his office said in a statement released by the U.S. Embassy in Delhi.
It said: “In India, the Vice President will visit New Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. The Vice President will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
American readers say Vance and the second family will also participate in cultural sites in India.
The U.S. vice president is heading to India with Trump’s policy backdrop on tariffs, which has triggered massive trade disruptions and fears of a global recession.
A few days after the imposition of reciprocity tariffs this month, Trump announced a 90-day pause to all countries except China, as the world withered under the influence of earthquake action.
People familiar with the matter said U.S. National Security Advisor Michael Waltz also plans to visit India early next week, but the trip has been postponed.
The above-mentioned person said Vance’s visit might be more of a private trip.
It is understood that the U.S. Vice President will hold talks with Prime Minister Modi on April 21, which will cover all aspects of India-U.S. ties, including tariff issues and ongoing negotiations between the two sides on bilateral trade agreements.
In Rome, Vance will hold talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and then meet with Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin to attend the ceremony before Easter Sunday.
Vice President Vance’s visit comes weeks after the US National Intelligence Agency (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard traveled to India.
DNI held a separate meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Foreign Minister Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval.
The U.S. president’s tariff quarrel has sparked concerns about a global trade war.
After Modi and Trump negotiated in Washington, D.C. in February, both sides announced that they would negotiate the first batch of BTAs in the fall of 2025.
