Uttam sets deadlines for major irrigation projects

Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy announced a road map on Thursday to quickly carry out irrigation projects in the undivided Mahbubnagar area to ensure it is completed on a schedule. He said the massive Palamuru-rangareddy Lift Irrigation Program (PRLIS) will be completed in December 2027, ending delays and unjust delays to farmers under the previous BRS regime.
He spoke with the consent of the Minister of Consumption Taxation Jupally Krishna Rao after extensive aerial and ground inspections of major irrigation sites in Nagarkurnool and Wanaparthy.
The tour began with Narlapur in Kollapur Mandal, where the team inspected the Class I pumping station and the Narlapur reservoir with a capacity of 6.4 TMC FT, almost six and a half times the holding capacity of Hussainsagar. They reviewed the progress of the work of the canal between Narapur and Yedra, part of the Prlis Package-3.
They made a detailed review of Package-3, an important link that was ignored by the previous BRS regime. The Chief Engineer concerned and the Chief Engineer of the Building Bureau have completed the Packaging 3 for a six-month deadline.
In Yedula, Revally Mandal, Wanaparthy district, the ministers inspected the Yedula reservoir and the Level II pumping station in Teegalapally, Kodair Mandal. The segment has 10 145 MW capacity pumps with 23,000 cusecs and supplies 6.5-TMC FT reservoirs. It is worth noting that it includes India's largest underground cave – 30 meters wide, 415 meters long and 90 meters deep – located 160 meters below the ground.
Later, the delegation headed to the Phase III pumping station and Vattem reservoir in Bijinepally Mandal. The site also has 10 145 MW capacity pumps and the same discharge capacity.
He directed irrigation officials to prepare a comprehensive list of pending land acquisition cases and supplier-related packages to address all bottlenecks in the implementation of these plans.
