TVK President Vijay urged the Tamil Nadu government to join the legal battle under the WAQF Amendment Act of 2025, pointing out that opposition to legislation should go beyond mere symbolism and have made greater efforts to protect constitutional values and minority rights.
In a statement, Mr. Vijay said that the violation of the fundamental rights of Muslims poses a greater threat to the constitutional guarantees of ethnic minorities. He said television has filed a petition in the Supreme Court, challenging its provisions.
Vijay highlighted the development of the case and the legal measures taken by his party, asking: [Tamil Nadu] The General Assembly adopted a resolution against it. Now that the bill has become a law, how is the resolution in its status? When did the DMK government claim to oppose the act and take steps to join the legal battle against other democratic forces. Why doesn’t the Tamil Nadu government engage in a personal legal battle against the bill? ”
He stressed that his party was firmly committed to protecting the rights of ethnic minorities.
