Vijayawada: The Southern Central Railway (SCR) Vijayawada department has made history by registering its highest scrap sales of Rs 10.165 crore in the fiscal year 2024-25. The sector’s scrap sales exceeded Rs 1,000 crore for the first time in a single fiscal year.
Narendra A. Patil, divisional railway manager for SCR Vijayawada’s division, said the department successfully processed 18,908 metric tons of scrap material this year through an electronic auction, strengthening its commitment to effective asset management. He further said that the waste disposal includes railway waste, S&T waste, engineering waste, miscellaneous waste, iron, steel and other metals, all of which are auctioned through transparent, effective electronic auction processes. He praised KB Tirupataiah, senior department materials manager.
