Virat Kohli creates IPL history and becomes the first player to achieve unique milestones

IPL 2025: The 36-year-old is the first batsman to reach this mark in the game.
In the 2025 Indian Premier League, Virat Kohli became the first player to reach 1,000 in the RCB vs. DC match in Bengaluru, making headlines. At the age of 36, he surpassed the previous record of retired Shikhar Dhawan, who had 920 boundaries in his IPL career. Another famous player, David Warner, gained 899 boundaries before hanging the boots.
Kohli stood out as the only player to have contributed 18 seasons in a single franchise, while Dhawan played for the Delhi capital, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings, while Warner wore the jerseys of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals.
Most boundaries in IPL history
Virat Kohli -1001
Shikhar Dhawan -920
David Warner-899
Rohit Sharma -885
Chris Gayle-761
With over 8,000 runs, Kohli is the leading running racer in IPL, winning the orange hat twice, and now focusing only one-third to match Warner’s record. At the big auction in Jeddah, Kohli was committed to the RCB’s commitment, especially since he rejected other franchises to maintain a loyal offer.
Despite reaching the final three times, RCB is still chasing their first championship. The buzz about Kohli might be the captain of the new season, but experienced players have chosen the position. Instead, Rajat Patidar mastered the ins ropes and was always doing the commendable work.
RCB has won three games so far and faced only one loss, while Kohli contributed two and a half centuries. Their victory against Kolkata Cavaliers, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians in the away game highlights the team’s potential. However, they did trip over the Gujarat Titans in Bangalore.
