Vizianagaram police arrested two “radical youth”

Vizianagaram police arrested two “radical youths” who allegedly participated in the creation of bombs and sparked Muslim youths and commented on social media, thereby inciting violence.

At the prompt, two Vizianagaram police officers raided a house and arrested 29-year-old Siraj-ur-Rehaman, who was allegedly preparing for explosives. Police caught some of the raw materials used to make explosives, such as aluminum powder and sulfur powder. According to his confession, a police team in Vizianagaram district went to Hyderabad and picked up another defendant, Syed Sameer, who was in touch with Rehaman and commented on social media groups.

Vakul Jindal Police Commissioner Vizianagaram District Commissioner said the defendant was carried out under the Illegal Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967 and also under the Explosive Substances Act of 1908. “We have grabbed some explosive material that the defendants were produced in court, which returned it to judicial custody,” SP said on Sunday.

A investigator said police were asking the defendants if they were in contact with any banned Muslim group or any terrorist group and because of how long they had been in contact with each other. “Counterintelligence officers and officials from other agencies are verifying the contacts of the defendant and his social media accounts,” the police said.

Vizianagaram Police Chief Vakul Jindal directed House police officers at all police departments to remain vigilant and questioned suspicious persons in the context of the Pahalgam incident, of which 26 people were killed by activists on April 22, 2025.
