Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation to visit India for the annual high meeting as the two leaders held a telephone conversation on Monday, the Kremlin said.

“The Indian leader confirmed that he invited the Russian president to visit India for the annual bilateral summit. The invitation is very grateful,” the Kremlin said in a statement.

They highlighted the strategic nature of Russia-India relations, which enjoyed a special privileged partnership, adding that these relations are not affected by external influences and continue to develop dynamically in all areas.

State-run radio station Vesti FM reported that Putin once again expressed his sincere condolences to the killing of Indian citizens and killed him in a brutal terrorist attack on Pahalgam on April 22, assured Modi that Russia competes with India in all forms and manifestations of terrorism.

Modi congratulated Putin and the Russian people on his upcoming 80th anniversary of his victory in the great patriotic war.
