Voice of America News: Voice of America is signing contracts with big houses such as AP, Reuters, AFP, etc.

The U.S. government agency that runs Voice has begun to terminate contracts with the Associated Press, Reuters and France-Presse, France, and told its reporters according to a report to stop using materials for wire services.

The Associated Press reported that former broadcaster Kari Lake was selected as a Republican politician by President Donald Trump, a move he estimated would save $53 million.

The new government has quickly announced its powers on the VOA, which has conveyed news to all over the world from a U.S. perspective. While awaiting official approval to take over, Lake was taken to a special counsel for the US global media agency, which oversees VOA and sister organizations such as Free Europe Radio Europe.
She announced on Thursday via social media that she would end her “expensive and unnecessary contract” with wire services.

“We shouldn’t pay news organizations to tell us what news is,” Lake said. “With a nearly billion dollar budget, we should make our own news. If it is impossible, U.S. taxpayers should ask to know why.”

According to VOA Staff, he was told to stop using wire service materials for reporting at a meeting on Friday.

VOA’s move comes amid a tense relationship between the press and the White House. The Associated Press sued after the White House banned its journalists from entering the news pool, and the Pentagon has pulled several journalists from its long-term habitat, while news agencies are targeted by lawsuits and FCC investigations.

Lake said in another social media post that she was in fact-discovery mode, “Boy, I found that American taxpayers shouldn’t pay for it.”
