Vokkaligas and Lingayats are in trouble

Vokkaliga community leaders were struggling on Tuesday to discuss their future action plans on the socio-economic and educational survey report, which will be discussed in the cabinet on Thursday.
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar chaired a meeting of Vokkaliga ministers and legislators, mainly from the Congress to respond, but Rajya Vokkaliga Sangha decided to wait until Thursday to announce the next course.
Sangha President Kenchappa Gowda told Presspersons that the executive committee decided on Tuesday to wait until the cabinet meeting and then launch a protest if needed. He said Vokkaligas will work hand in hand with Veerashaiva-Lingayats, who oppose the opposition to the investigation report, and other communities. “We will show our strength. We are also exploring the possibility of a legal battle.”
On Tuesday evening, Mr. Shivakumar presided over a meeting of Vokkaliga leaders, which was underway when it was pushed away.
Akhila Bharata Veerashaiva Mahasabha has not held a meeting of Lingayat legislators, and sources say it could be held Wednesday night or Thursday morning. The source said a joint meeting between Veerashaiva-Lingayat and Vokkaliga leaders was also planned.
“Send to Center”
Meanwhile, Basavaraj Rayaraddi, economic adviser to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, told Presspersons that the state should accept the investigation report and send it to the center to ensure it enters the ninth timeline. “In the past, the Centre’s Congress government allowed it when the Tamil Nadu government wanted to raise booking restrictions to 69 per cent.”
