WAKF Bill Amendment: Congress, Muslim JAC holds protests in Vizianagaram

Several Muslim associations, the joint action committee of the Congress party left the political party and others organized protests in Vizianaram on Wednesday (16 April 2025) against the WAKF Act Amendment. JAC leaders Shaik Mustafa, Habeeb Mohammed, PM Rahamtulla and others led the rally from Ambati Satram Junction to Collector’s office, covering nearly 4 km distance to protest the changes in the WAKF bill.

Mr. Khabib said the centre has been treating Muslims as secondary schools citizens while treating them with goals in every way, even though they were born in India like other citizens.

In a press release, Mohammed Nasir, former vice chairman and director of Andhra Pradesh Minority Finance Corporation, hopes that the Supreme Court will revoke the amendment and ensure the status quo of the bill.

Maripi Vidyasagar, the Vizianagaram district president of the Congress party, claimed that the Narendra Modi government would have the objectives of ethnic minorities and opposition parties in a systematic way. He said the party will continue to expand moral support to Muslim organizations as the center undermines the secular image of the country. Meanwhile, Mr. Vidasagar and other leaders held another protest against the law enforcement agency’s allegations against Congressional leaders Sonya Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
