Indian-American executive appointed as leadership role in Wharton Businessman, focusing on AI, analytics

New York, March 31 (PTI), an Indian-American was appointed to leadership positions in the prestigious Wharton Inauguration Program, giving his industry-leading expertise to advise teachers and mentor students in the fields of artificial intelligence and analytics.

A statement released here says Johnson and Johnson’s senior vice president of global services, strategy and business services has been appointed as the Wharton AI and Analytics Initiative (WAIAI).

The statement added that the Wharton AI and Analytics program is launching exclusive directors in the residence program to bring industry-leading expertise to the heart of Wharton AI research and student initiatives.

Each year, select executives from senior organizations will work with faculty and students to bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI research and real-world challenges.

Anand and Senior Director ERP, Digital & IT Strategy, Hershey Achim Welter was appointed CEO of Residence.

As an executive in residence, leaders will advise teachers at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton to help shape AI research to meet business needs; mentor students and guide future AI innovators WAIAI sponsored projects such as Wharton AI and Analytics Accelerator.

Share insights at the Prime Minister’s meeting, contribute as keynote speakers and panellists, and judge high-stakes AI competitions including Waiai Hack-ai-Thons and Venture Lab startup challenges.

Anand brought more than 26 years of “transformative leadership that drives strategic impact in consumer goods, medicines, medical devices and telecommunications. With a dynamic force in business and technology, he led a global initiative to redefine industry.”

It said their “expertsive knowledge enable them to be the breadth and depth that shapes Waiai’s future and guides the next generation of AI pioneers”.

Anand holds a Master of Computer Science from Gujarat University in Ahmedabad and an MBA from Drexel University in Philadelphia.

In addition to his company leadership, he is an influential voice in the data and digital transformation community, serving on the Global Editorial Board of CDO Magazine, where he shares insights into the future of healthcare through data and AI. In addition, he is an independent board member of the United States Table Tennis (USATT).

Anand said he was passionate about the role: “Being able to join the Wharton AI and Analytics initiative as a place of residence executive. I am excited to partner with Wharton’s faculty, talented students and industry leaders to explore the transformative potential of AI and analytics.”

Anand will use his extensive expertise in digital transformation and business services in the role of Wharton to further the program’s mission of driving the practical application of artificial intelligence and analytics in business innovation.

Leaded by Vice Dean Eric Bradlow, who is a professor of marketing, statistics and data science, economics and education, WAIAI spearheads the lead in building innovative student learning experiences, faculty research opportunities, and partnerships with industry experts and practitioners.
