Watch: WAQF Bill | Who supports it and who opposes it?
Minority and Parliament Minister Kiren Rijiju told reporters that Lok Sabha’s Business Advisory Committee (BAC) agreed to the eight-hour debate.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that supports the bill is confident that its support is crucial to key allies such as Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
On the other hand, the bill aimed at reforming the WAQF government is being opposed by the Indian group.
The bill opposes several changes it introduced, including the inclusion of non-Muslim members on the WAQF Board and the Central WAQF Committee and the granting more power to regional collectors.
