We cannot take action and the wheel of history…: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi | World News

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Friday that the United States cannot take reckless action and the wheel of history cannot be reversed.

Wang, who is also a member of the Communist Party Politburo of the Central Committee of China, made a remark when he met with the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

He said the involvement of certain major countries in unilateral bullying was one of the key factors that led to the current international landscape marked by turmoil and chaos.

Wang added: “Given that the United States is using tariff rods recently, it blatantly places its own interests above the common interests of all countries, ignoring the multilateral trading system and the rules established.”

Wang said that as a responsible member of the international community, China not only defends its legitimate rights and interests, but also protects the common interests of the international community to ensure that humanity is not dragged back to the jungle world that might be the right one.

Wang said China is willing to take the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations (UN) as an opportunity to firmly adhere to the international system, based on international law, and cooperate with other countries to jointly resist all the regressive actions in the world.

Earlier in the day, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that there is no winner in the tariff war and confrontation with the world will only lead to self-isolation.

China has also decided to retaliate against additional tariffs on U.S. goods starting April 12, increasing the overall effective efficiency to 125%. This is a day after U.S. President Donald Trump announced 145% of the total 145% of Chinese goods.

After meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Xi said that over the past 70 years and above, China has achieved development through self-reliance and hard struggle, never relying on the mercy of others and not too worried about any unreasonable suppression.

He added that no matter how the outside world changes, China will remain confident and focus on its own affairs well.
