West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Wednesday (March 19, 2025) that the state’s health authorities do not deny the treatment of people from other states.
She described the health infrastructure in West Bengal as the best in the country and said people from other states were treated in hospitals in Bangladesh.
Ms. Banerjee is at the conference for the health department’s budget.
“Ask those who say’Hinduism Hinduism“, did they go to the hospital to ask Hindi-speaking people from Bihar who are treated, their happiness. Did they go to the hospital to ask people from Tripura, Northeastern state or anywhere else? We will never deny the treatment of people in other states,” Ms. Banner told the House without naming any political parties.

The Chief Minister’s comment was two days after witnessing the banner and bend of the BJP in part of Chinsurah in Hogley area.Hindu Hindu Worship, 2026 e bjp ke chai(All Hindus are brothers, and we hope BJP power will be in power in 2026), ostensibly setting the tone for next year’s West Bengal Parliament poll.
The IT and social media cells that ruled TMC responded to multiple banners appearing in parts of Northern Kolkata on Tuesday, which retained opposition Hindu-centric rhetoric but questioned the public policy of the center led by the BJP.
Ms. Banerjee refers to the “Chaarpatra” of Bengali poet Sukanta Bhattacharya, “We believe in the religion of Ram Krishna Param Hansha and Swami Vivekananda. We do not believe in people who import from outside, do not believe in those who create among people, do not believe in people… do not believe in politicians, we believe in peace. We say.
Banerjee also claimed that the beautification of the hospital and the escalation of the health department began shortly after her party seized power in the state.
“I can challenge anyone and say in the health sector, Bangladesh is the best in the country and the whole world recognizes its efforts,” she said, adding that the number of doctors increased by 14,000.
She also claimed that all rights of the state government were deprived.
She claimed: “…there is no ability to collect taxes, the center is taking all the money…there is only one GST and they are not giving us anything.”
Ms Banerjee also criticized the central government’s “Ayushman Bharat” plan and claimed that nearly 150 million applications were unattended.
She claimed that the state government’s health plan “Swasthya Sathi” benefited from 900 million people.
She said: “Ayushman Bharat is not suitable for ordinary people, our ‘Swastha Sathi’ is common. About 90 million people benefit. In private hospitals, about 10 million people benefit a lot.”
Ms. Banerjee, referring to the rape murderer at the doctor at the RG KAR Medical College Hospital, said: “Some incidents have happened and we will definitely feel sorry for it. We also hope that the female victims at the RG KAR Hospital will be justice.”
