Weather in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane: Huge rain bombs

As a major city will be slammed by a month of rain in just one week, millions of Australians are being warned to prepare for a lot of wet weather.
As conditions worsened Sunday night, heavy rain and destructive winds had already emanated, with more than 100mm of rain shattering the central coast of Sydney and New South Wales.
Emergency services responded to more than 250 seeking calls throughout the weekend, including 60 in Sydney Metropolitan, as residents face damage to leaky roofs and their properties as trees were uprooted.
At least one person was taken to the hospital for eight flood rescues from vehicles in northern New South Wales.
Wild weather is expected to continue for the rest of the week, with rainfall expected to drop in a few days for more than a month.
From the Central North Coast of NSW to the Central Coast, heavy rains, severe weather warnings for destruction of wind and dangerous surfing conditions.
Angus Hines, a senior meteorologist at BOM, said a bunch of rain that formed overnight is moving northward to the central and northern coastal areas.
The total rainfall is expected to be “slow” until Thursday, with the worst being Monday and Tuesday.
BOM senior meteorologist Angus Hines describes wet weather events as “important” with a total of 150mm, while some other areas may see up to 300mm of rain
“There will be a few days of rainfall… in the next few days, it will be very, very wet.”
Mr. Hines called the expansion nature of wet weather “very large” and rainfall is expected in the same area within a few days.
He added that the areas with the highest risk of damage are central, hunters and parts of the central and northern coasts, as well as parts of the central and northern range.
“Of course, it’s the Hunter and North Central coastal areas where the rainfall is the highest and it really exceeds the top of the scale,” Mr. Shians said.
“Of course, over 150 mm, some places may be close to 250 or 300.”
“Three to four consecutive days of rainfall can cause huge impacts of flooding, road closures and the potential of some flooded homes, real estate or businesses,” Shians said.
The wild weather is expected to continue throughout the week and will ease on Saturday.
Dangerous beach conditions can also be used to seal the rocks from Sydney’s southern beaches.

Millions of Australia have been warned to support heavy rains, bringing flash torrents, harmful winds and dangerous surfing conditions
Hunter and the coastal areas of the north-central region are expected to have gusts of about 100 km/h.
Wyee in the Central Coast region had the highest total rainfall in 121 mm between 9 a.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday, while nearby Dora Creek had 117 mm of rainfall.
Ongoing rains have triggered flash flooding, including Wakehurst Road between North Narabyne and Oxford Falls and Narabyn’s Marina.
Both were closed due to the overflow of mountain floods.
More than 2,200 people on Sydney and the Central Coast are now more than 2,200 people after extreme weather on Sunday night.
Residents of Sydney suburbs, Alaw, Tag Mountain, French Forest, Narevina and Oxford Falls were affected, while residents of Uncle Kind and McMasters Beach were affected.
