West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose arrived at Sealdah Railway Station on Friday, April 18, 2025 and boarded the train to MALDA to visit areas affected by recent violence during the protests against WAQF amendment in the state.

Upon arrival at Malda, the governor plans to go to the circuit building; from there, he will visit the locations affected by violence in the area.

After he conducted an inspection in Malda, Governor Bose will head to Murshidabad to assess the situation in the area.

Earlier on Thursday (April 17, 2025), West Bengal Governor Raj Bhavan will work with the coalition and the state government to deal with victims affected by the recent violence in the state.

“Raj Bhavan will do his best for the victims in his cooperation with the state and central government,” Boss said, adding that his visit to places affected by violence was an “objective view” on the matter.

He added: “I’m going to take a look at the reality of the field for myself. I’ll have an objective view of the matter. The situation is under control. We should take further steps to prevent similar situations in the future. I’ll definitely visit Mershidabad… People in the area require BSF camps there.”

The visit occurred during a violent outbreak during the April 11 protest against the WAQF (Amendment) bill, which killed three people, injured several others and caused widespread property damage.

Several families were displaced, many moved to the Pakur district of Jharkhand, while others took refuge in relief camps set up in Malda.

On Thursday, the Kolkata High Court said central forces would remain in Murshidabad for a period of time to uphold the law and orders, and said the court would monitor the recovery and recovery of the victims. The court also ordered officials from the BJP, TMC and others not to give provocative speeches to escalate tensions.
