West Bengal police target Hindu youth in Murhidabad, calling Suvendu Adhikari

Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari of West Bengal Parliament accused West Bengal police of selectively targeting Hindu youth in violent attacks in the area of the Murhidabad region on May 12, 2025 (May 12, 2025). He claimed that local police were filing a fake first information report (FIR), with many people being accepted by “fake fees” and being detained in the police station for “hours.”
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders declared that police “disappeared” when violence broke out in Dhulian, Samsherganj and Murshidabad broke out.

“CM [Mamata Banerjee] Go to the affected areas on May 5 to revitalize the police against Hindus. Police targeted Hindu families and picked up three men in the 10th district of Thakurpara three days ago. These are Chiranjib Ghosh, Ashish Talapatra and Gora Ghosh. Gora Ghosh was released the next day, but others remained in custody. ” said Adhikari.
Mr Adhikari said a team of three lawyers from the BJP visited the affected areas on May 11 and provided legal support to those detained. He added that the case will be filed in the Kolkata High Court for “selective arrest”.
BJP leaders said police even picked up several men on Sunday (May 11) and detained for hours without proper reason.

Mr Adhikari said police posts outside Bharat Sevashram Sangha of Belhampl were removed from office after the letter from the Chief Minister ordered his removal. He said the facility covered up many marginalized tribes and Hindu men who risked violence at the hands of locals.
Violence occurred in the Samsherganj Police Station area in Murshidabad from April 11 to 12, protesting the recently adopted WAQF (Amendment), 2025. The violence killed three people, including father duo Harogobind Das and Chandan Das, who cruelly privately jafrabad jafrabad in the area. Eleven people related to the two deaths have been arrested. In the violence, a mob was torched by the mob and destroyed some property.
According to West Bengal police, 60 pilots have been registered so far, and 345 people have been arrested on suspicion of participating in the violence.

Mr Adhikari said he had spoken with Director General BSF, who promised that after understanding after the ceasefire, “there will be positive things in the negotiations for the release of BSF Jawan”.
