After the Supreme Court appointed 25,000 teaching and non-teaching personnel on Thursday (4 April 2025) by the Supreme Court order, the West Bengal School Services Commission said it could not complete the new appointment within three months.
The Supreme Court has said that “non-polluting” candidates have the right to apply to their former departments or autonomous bodies to continue to use with these entities.
The courts of Indian Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Sanjay Kumar allow their respective government departments or agencies to process these applications within three months and allow candidates to resume their positions. ”
Siddhartha Majumdar, chairman of the West Bengal School Services Commission (WBSSC), told reporters that in view of the Supreme Court order, the committee will seek legal advice on the eligibility of candidates who can take the new exam.
“In 2016, about 260,000 candidates applied for the exam, and about 2.2 million candidates took the exam. Of these, about 141,000 candidates were aspirants in the IX-X position, and another 150,000 candidates had served as teachers in recruiting XI-XII. The rest of the candidates.

The SSC chairman said the committee will seek legal clarification to see if new candidates are also eligible for new exams. However, Mr. Mugadar added that it will comply with the Supreme Court directive and soon begin the process of conducting new examinations for all teaching and non-teaching candidates.
The process of compromise
According to the WBSSC recruitment in 2016, there are groups of approximately 25,752 teachers and non-teachers. “We firmly believe that the entire selection process was intentionally compromised due to the illegal acts involved,” the court noted.
West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu also added that the state government will act as directed by the Supreme Court. The minister added that the state government stands on the stance of the deprived, deserved candidate, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from an academic and political perspective.
Ms Banerjee called for a gathering of teachers whose sentencing influence was held at the Netaji indoor stadium on April 7. The Supreme Court pointed to a wide range of violations, “indicating or fraud undermining the process” and “a situation where it is difficult to separate tainted participants.”
Opposition parties, especially the BJP and CPI(M), have accused Trinamool Congressional government of violations and WBSSC because they did not show this before contaminated courts and candidates for unsanitary teachers and non-teachers. Starting Friday, about 25,000 employees have not reported to schools, and the state education system may remain stressed.
