What you need to know about Hackney Half Marathon

Hackney Half is a big half on the London running calendar.
It takes place every spring and the 2025 date is approaching.
But whether you’re a runner, a supporter or just someone who wants to absorb the atmosphere of East London that day – here’s everything you need to know to make the day go smoothly:
When is the Hackney Half Marathon?
The competition will be held on Sunday, May 18, and runners will set out from 9 a.m. – but the event is part of a larger active life festival weekend that takes place throughout Saturday 17.
Starting Saturday at 9 a.m., the festival has a full lineup of sports, fitness classes and performances to encourage people to be active.
Everything (including the competition) starts from the festival headquarters of Hackney Marsh.

For the actual race, the event – ​​sponsored by the airline Wizz Air – has a 3.5-hour shortening time for all runners, as roads in the area can be closed.

What is the route for the Hackney Half Marathon?
The competitions all started and ended in Hackney Marshes and visited East London.
Runners will set out from the swamp to see the sight of Hackney, who is still alive. It is a festival of names and nature that has been following the route of entertainment runners for live music and street art.
They will run to Hackney Downs, past Dalson, then past Hackney Central Station, then Don will pass through Haggerston Station and through Victoria Park, homeland.
Are there toilets and water stations along the way?
Fortunately, yes! The Hackney Half Marathon route will have six aid stations this year at 3.5, 5.7, 7.1, 7.9, 9.3 and 11.5 if you need to pick me up.
You will find volunteers, toilets and sanitation products in all six aid stations.
In four of the six aid stations – miles 3.5, 5.7, 7.9 and 11.5 miles, runners will be able to grab water in their cups. At 9.3 miles you will find water in a 330ml bottle, while the aid station at 7.1 miles will provide energy drinks in the cup to give you some boost if needed.

Hackney Halm is known to be an active event full of characters, with supporters surrounding the streets.
