The Minister of Home Affairs directs police to strengthen law enforcement in multiple aspects

Kaval: Karnataka Home Secretary Dr. G. Parameshwara directed the police station to strengthen law enforcement across multiple fronts, including combating drug trafficking on the Goa border, curbing illegal alcohol transport, strengthening cybercrime monitoring and ensuring road safety.

The minister held a review meeting at the District Police Chief’s Office on Wednesday, stressing the need for greater vigilance. He directed police officers in Uttara Kannada everywhere to visit schools and universities regularly to educate students about the dangers of drug abuse. He warned that strict action will be taken against officials who have detected drug-related activities.

Dr. Parameshwara directed officials to collect data on authorized and unauthorized families in the area, act against illegal agencies, and monitor the supply of alcohol at such locations. He also directed officials to pay close attention to foreign nationals living in the area to ensure they have the appropriate documentation. He added that parties held at homestays and resorts must be monitored for drug use.

Dr Parameshwara expressed concerns about the large number of road accidents in the area, stressing that 589 people have been killed, 3,899 injured in the past 2.5 years, with most incidents occurring on national highways. He directed officials to identify areas prone to accidents, install necessary safety measures, and coordinate with the National Highway Administration.

The minister also addressed the issue of cybercrime, urging officials to thoroughly investigate the case and ensure prompt registration of the complaint. He noted that Uttara Kannada ranked second in the state’s fake news releases and called for a stronger social media monitoring mechanism to curb misinformation.

During the Shiruru landslide and the collapse of the Kali River Bridge, he praised the police department’s response, praised Uttara Kannada SP M. Narayan for his positive attitude and coordinated closely with public representatives and citizens.
