Who is DGMO Lieutenant Rajiv Ghai, India-The face behind the ceasefire in Pakistan?

It is necessary to point out that the key face behind the understanding of the ceasefire between the two countries is the Director-General of Indian Military Operations (DGMO) Rajiv Ghai. Pakistan’s DGMO contacted his Indian counterpart at noon on Saturday urging New Delhi to stop escalation.

After a few days of stalemate, Pakistan finally reached out to India to seek a ceasefire after “Operation Sindoor”. The two neighbors agreed to an immediate ceasefire on the evening of May 10 (i.e. Saturday).

Who is Rajiv Ghai?

In October 2024, Rajiv Ghai served as DGMO of the Army Headquarters in Southern Delhi. Prior to that, he also served as General Officer (GOC) of Srinagar-based Chinar Corps. In India, DGMO is a senior military officer in charge of military planning and border operations.
