Who is Nipun Aggarwal?
Nipun Aggarwal has served as Chief Commercial Officer of Air India since April 2022. According to Aggarwal’s LinkedIn Profim.
Prior to joining Tata’s son, he worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Standard Chartered Bank, BP PLC and L&T.
Aggarwal received a postgraduate diploma in management from the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata. He received his Bachelor of Engineering from the Delhi Institute of Engineering.
Nie will replace Campbell Wilson in Aggarwal as Tata Group-owned airlines plan to continue restructuring. According to Reuters, Air India’s chief operating officer Basil Kwauk will also replace Air India’s board of directors Wilson Campbell.
Air India continued its restructuring process after Tata Group took control of Tata Group two years ago. Tata Group merged four airlines into two airlines – Air India and Air India Express and Air Asia.
The report quotes Wilson as saying: “Through this structural effort, the task is currently to make the most of the group fleet, network, sales, distribution and loyalty assets.”
The report further mentions that Air India is offering billions of dollars in deals for widebody jets. However, delivery of these jets has been delayed, forcing airlines to work with older jets, resulting in increased maintenance costs, delaying their modernization and expansion efforts.
Meanwhile, according to Bloomberg News, China has asked airlines to avoid adopting Boeing aircraft due to the escalating trade war.
After this development, Air India may be interested in obtaining jets that were rejected by China. However, Reuters reported that people on the matter were aware of this development and there was no confirmation about the matter.
