A 41-year-old leather businessman was killed and three others were injured in a road accident after traveling on a tractor on the Chennai-Bangaluru Expressway (NH 44), in the village of Sundakupum near the town of Amber near Tirupattur on Wednesday. Police said the deceased was identified as Salem native S. Mohammed Yakub. The initial inquiry revealed that with his brother S. Mohammed Yusuf (42), Yakub drove to Ambur from Salem during a business trip when he suddenly noticed a tractor extending from the service lane. Despite the brakes being applied by Yakub, he lost control of the vehicle and hit the tractor. During the impact, two brothers and two pedestrians, 30-year-old S. Reshma, and her 2-year-old child, Rehyan, were injured in the accident, which happened around 11 a.m., when other motorists and Passerby rescued the injured. They also reminded Amber Town police, who arrived at the scene. Police moved the injured to the government Taruk Hospital in Amur, where doctors declared Yakub dead on arrival. The case has been registered. A special team has been formed to incorporate the tractor drivers. Detection is underway.
