A silver-covered wooden elephant Vahanam with a Howdah on it was used in the parade Tuesday at the Kapaleeswarar Temple in Mylapore. A total of 130 kilograms of silver were used for manufacturing, and the donor cost Rs 1.56 crore.
Hindu Religion and Charity Donation Minister PK Sekarbabu sent the elephant Vahanam to the temple. He explained that the Wildlife Act has been changed, which may help the temple get elephants. At the same time, several memorials of Manpa Pang are being built for the elephants in the state’s temple.
