The Supreme Court has directed YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP Mithun Reddy to seek expected bail from the Andhra Pradesh High Court in the case of alcohol scams.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court recommended him to approach the High Court, noting that things have changed since then because his earlier petition was dismissed. At that time, the High Court rejected his plea because he had not been designated as a defendant and the government assured the court that there was no intention to arrest him.
However, the government has now informed the court that Mr Mithun Reddy has been officially added as the defendant in the case.
In view of this development, the judge led by Judge Parthiwala advised the High Court to re-examine the matter based on its merits. The Supreme Court also revoked the temporary protection previously granted to Mr. Mithun Reddy. It recommended that the High Court should decide his bail request within four weeks.
