A woman was burned to death at her residence in Medchal, Athellelly village in the early hours of Friday. The deceased was identified as 50-year-old Laxmi.
The incident emerged when the neighbor noticed the smoke emitted from her residence. Upon arriving at the scene, they saw her completely burned.
An official with Medchal police said they suspected the woman had caught fire with the person she lived with in the past few months. “The man may be involved and flee after she catches fire. We are investigating whether to participate,” the official said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem evaluation. A case has been booked and efforts are being made to track the defendants.
