X said India blocked 8,000 accounts after the government’s orders were executed.

New Delhi: Social media platform X said on Thursday it blocked 8,000 accounts in India under the government’s execution order. X said it received an executive order from the Indian government that it blocked more than 8,000 accounts in India but was subject to potential fines, including large fines and jail for local employees of the company.

X said in terms of global government affairs handling: “To comply with these orders, we will only withhold the prescribed accounts in India. We have begun this process. However, we do not agree with the Indian government’s request.”
