Yash Chopra shares Amitabh Bachchan’s reaction to Jaya Bachchan’s actor, Rekha together at Silsila: “It took him a long time…”

Even though Silsila wasn’t doing well when it first released, it gradually attracted a strong fan and is now considered a cult classic. Yash Chopra also mentioned Amitabh’s reaction when she heard about the new actor’s choice.
Yash Chopra once shared with Shah Rukh Khan that the fact that Silsila was cast proved to be a major turning point. He initially signed Smita Patil as Jaya Bachchan and Rekha’s Parveen Babi. Both actresses will begin filming. But things changed when Chopra met Amitabh Bachchan and discussed his vision for the film, which eventually led to Amitabh, Jaya and Rekha playing together, making it one of the boldest actor decisions in Bollywood history.
He said: “I signed up for Smita Patil and Parveen Babi and they both started filming. Smita is about to play Jaya Bachchan and Rekha’s Jaya Bachchan and Parveen. I went to meet Amitji and talked to him about the movie.”
He further added: “It was Amitji who asked me if I was happy…I was satisfied with the actors (Smita Patil, Parveen Babi and Amitabh Bachchan), did I feel like this is the ideal actor. I told him I wanted to cast him, Jayaji, Rekha, Rekha, he accepted it for a long time and told me that he said a decision but I asked twice and it was two transfers to say.
According to several reports, Jaya Bachchan agreed to be Silsila, mainly because the story chose to stay with his wife in the role of Amitabh Bachchan. After the release of the movie, Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan were never seen together on screen again.
