Data-centric policing, new era technology must let J&K police end terrorism in J&K: LG Manoj Sinha

Jamu and Kashmir Governor Manoj Sinha said on Friday (April 18, 2025) that the police “must adapt to emerging technologies and deploy them to improve their operational efficiency” as he promised to end terrorism in Jamu and Kashmir.

“We need a future police force to effectively combat evolving terror and organized crime threats. Given the rapid changes that occur due to technology, our approach should adopt data-centric policing to effectively address challenges, analyze crime trends and predict patterns and make the necessary changes in investigations,” Mr Sinha said.

He spoke at the pass event of the 16th Basic Recruitment Training Course (BRTC) of the J&K Police Department at the Manigam Police Training School in Ganderbal. A total of 438 recruits, including 86 women, completed the training.

Mr Sinha stressed that the country expressed valuable sacrifices to the J&K police, saying: “Today, the J&K police force is admired for its professionalism, ongoing perseverance and determination. Over the past few years, the J&K police force, the Army and the CAPF have successfully crushed terrorism in the terrorism of Kashmir Valley.”

However, LG of J&K police, who commanded the Union Territory Police Department, expressed concern about the increase in terrorist attacks in Jamma. “This is a problem. Our determination is to make Jamu and Kashmir terrorism-free,” Sinha said.

Emphasizing the need to introduce emerging technologies and deploy them to enhance the operational efficiency of J&K police, Mr Singha said: “Citizens can live in peace and work freely because they know that our police force is unwavering in protecting their lives and fighting terrorism and crime.”

He said the J&K police and their exemplary courage to assure the UT safe people.
