“You’re a lunatic, stupid person, your movie is…”

Madhur Bhandarkar shares Mahesh Bhatt because his movie Chandni Bar threw abuse at him while he was sleeping at home while he was sleeping at home. Taboo and Atul Kulkrani-starrer were Madhur’s first box office hit rate and went on to win four national awards.

After his 1999 debut in action drama Trishakti failed at the box office, Madhur Bhandarkar bounced back with his next film Chandni Bar. The crime drama is titled Tabu and also stars in key roles of Atul Kulkarni, Ananya Khare, Rajpal Yadav, Upendra Limaye, Vinay Apte and Manoj Joshi. The film has achieved key and commercial success, continuing to win four national film awards for Best Film for Other Social Issues, Best Actress, Best Actress for Tabu, Best Supporter for Atul Kulkarni and Best Supporting Actress for Ananya Khare. In a recent interview, Madhur recalls an interesting incident after Chandni Bar’s release, when Mahesh Bhatt threw abuse at him in the movie The The The The The The The The The The The The The Formulll the Housefull.
The filmmaker started to veteran trade analyst Komal Nahta on the podcast game-changing podcast, saying, “I remember sleeping on the carpet on the 1 bhk floor under the fans, and I even got around 2pm. I was sleepy, so I threw abuse at me at home, “You’re a stupid person, your movie is a big person.” So I said sorry to him, just like the fire brigade sounded. ”
Madhur added that he went to Gaiety Galaxy and Star Theatre in Mumbai, and they had a large number of people watching the movie Chandni Bar. He called and thanked Mahesh Bhatt for giving him a wake-up call as he further pointed out: “I need that inspiring conversation. He was right, people longed for such a big blow. You can’t see one every day.” The director also shared his positive reactions he shared in the city and across the country. “Tao made the phone call first,” he recalled.
After Chandni Bar, Madhur Bhandarkar produced other critical and commercially renowned films such as Page 3, Fashion, Traffic Signals, Company and heroines. His last few movies include Calendar Girl, Indu Sarkar, India Lockdown and Babli Bouncer, failing to get the same love from viewers and critics as before.
