92 Liquor Company seeks nodding launches 604 new brands in Telangana

Hyderabad: The state government has received an overwhelming response from liquor companies seeking approval to introduce new brands. 92 liquor companies submitted applications to offer 604 new brands ahead of the final deadline on April 2, according to data released by the GST department on Tuesday.

Telangana Beverages Co., Ltd. (TGBCL), which oversees alcohol distribution, issued a notice on February 23, inviting applications from domestic and international suppliers to introduce new brands of foreign liquor (IMFL) and beer made in India. The move aims to expand the range of alcoholic beverages available on the market.

Initially, the last date of submission was March 15. The companies’ requests extend the deadline until April 2 after complying with challenges raised by C. Hari Kiran, the new documentary requirements, prohibitions and excise tax commissioner C. Hari Kiran.

Of the 604 new brands proposed, 331 are new IMFL variants, while 273 are foreign liquor brands. Interestingly, there are 47 new companies applying for the first time in Telangana, accounting for 386 new branded apps. Meanwhile, 45 existing suppliers submitted proposals for another 218 brands.

All applications will be reviewed in detail, officials from the GST department said. Final approval will be approved in accordance with the state’s latest alcohol guidelines. Officials said the huge reaction reflects the company’s interest in entering Telangana’s expanding alcohol market.
