iOS 18.4.1 Update: Everything You Need to Know
According to media reports, the iOS 18.4.1 update fixes two serious zero-day vulnerabilities. The first error reportedly was a CoreAudio vulnerability. This includes flaws in how the iPhone handles audio streams from potentially malicious sources. This error may potentially allow remote code execution. The second error has been fixed: Return pointer authentication code (RPAC) defect. This is a bypass vulnerability that damages Apple’s memory protection system. This provides attackers with unauthorized read and write access. Both security flaws are reportedly exploited in extremely complex attacks targeting high-profile people, including journalists and government officials.
Wireless carplay bug solved
According to reports, the update also addresses a rare issue that prevents wireless CarPlay from connecting in certain vehicles. Wired racing is not affected. While the tech giant says the problem is “rare,” it does cause a huge frustration for users who rely on navigation and media features while driving.
Security experts point out the top priority of this patch. Adam Boynton of security firm JAMF told Express UK that they (Apple) have taken care of two zero-day exploits with a security fix in iOS 18.4.1. He said all consumers should update their Apple devices as soon as possible.
He added that Apple offsets the vulnerability with better memory management and pointer authentication upgrades.
