Chennai: In the last four years of the DMK rules, 2,37,88,375 women belonging to 18,29,875 self-help groups (SHGs) have expanded their loan facilities to reach a gain of Rs 1,12,998.03 crore, a record set in the history of the SHG movement led by the DMK dmk government, launched by DMK karun runan.
After the current MK Stalin government took over the state government four years ago, the SHG campaign won Fillip thanks to its consistent financial support in loans.
Tamil Nadu Women Development Corporation, under the State Functional SHG, said in a press release on Wednesday that in 2024-25, 4,84,659 SHG received a loan, reaching Rs 351,898.7 crore in loans, despite the target of Rs 35,000 crore.
The release said that in the 2025-26 period, it was budgeted to pay Rs 370,000 crore loans to SHGS, until May 7, with the expenditure on loans reaching Rs 698.87 crore, benefiting from 7,917 SHG.
