3,438 reside in 332 dominances and may face a summer water shortage

Vijayawada: The state government has advised regional collectors to take precautions and avoid drinking water problems in their area for several months in the summer.

Chief Secretary K Vijayanand held a video conference with collectors from the state secretariat on Thursday and explained to them the summer action plan for Swarnandhra and Swachhandhra.

He said 3438 of 332 Mandans may face a summer water shortage, with the cost of the summer action plan at Rs 67.331 crore. Since hot weather conditions and hot winds may prevail in various areas in the coming days, collectors must ensure proper preparation and local planning to cope with heatwave conditions.

Vijayanand said drinking water needs should be met by supplying water through tankers in areas affected by drought. Collectors can recruit private drinking water sources when necessary and rent them according to the rental method. He told collectors that efforts should be made to solve drinking water problems by repairing and repairing temporary water supply systems, filling drinking water tanks with water, and repairing manual pumps.

He said special monitoring cells should be set up at the state and regional levels to receive complaints about drinking water issues. Local authorities should respond to it in a timely manner. Through the Public Dissatisfaction Remediation System, various media departments, drought monitoring cells and contactless centers, no-tel numbers-1902 Drinking Water Complaints received, “should be responded immediately and resolved in a timely manner.”

Vijayanand said all summer tanks should be filled with water and should be coordinated with the Ministry of Water Resources and then pumped into the well. Areas that rely on groundwater should take steps such as flushing and deepening wells.

As per his instructions, cells will be set up in each city’s local institutions to receive the dissatisfaction of the people in the drinking water. These complaints should be resolved in a timely manner. With the help of donors, special refrigeration centers will be established in the required areas. Collecters are also required to take strict measures to prevent the spread of the disease due to water pollution.

Later, while reviewing the Swarnandhra and Swachhandhra plans, CS said efforts should be made to keep all offices and surroundings clean by organizing Swachhandhra Day’s lossless organization. Special attention should be paid to the proper management of various electronic wastes (e-wastes) and awareness should be raised among the people.

Chief Secretary Mukesh Meena, MD of Apiic Abhishek Kishore and MD of Swachhandhra Corporation Anil Reddy participated in the video conference, while collectors and other officials participated in the virtual mode.
