5 Injured in patherghatti arched flat collapse

Hyderabad: Five people were injured and the newly renovated arched flat panel at the entrance of Pathergatti Kaman (the arched flat panel) collapsed Thursday between 10.30 pm and pm. Among the injured, four were female clients and one was homeless. Two of the women were injured.
According to K. Chandra Shekar, the plate collapsed due to too much cement and mud during the renovation. Locals who witnessed the incident reminded the victim’s family and police. The injured person was immediately transferred to the hospital. “The police arrived later,” said Satish Naik, owner of Anand Bhavan. Deccan Chronicle.
Zaheer, a witness, said the plate fell on women who went to shopping malls. “The injured women are from Kalapaser, Tarabata and Kotapali,” he said.
All five victims were discharged on the same day. However, officials from ASRA hospital confirmed that two of the women suffered spinal injuries and were recommended to be admitted, but they refused. The other two suffered minor head injuries. However, cases related to this incident have not been registered.
When questioning the collapse, Quli Qutb Shah Urban Development Authority (QQSUDA) denied any involvement in the renovation. “We are only responsible for the landscaping of Kaman. The building is private and the collapse has nothing to do with us,” said G. Guruveera, chief engineer at the authority.
A Charminar police officer said the renovation was carried out by Qqsuda or GHMC.
Intach Hyderabad convener P. Anuradha Reddy called for a detailed inquiry. “This incident is very worrying. The building has several jewelry and clothing stores and we need to determine who is responsible for its maintenance. It should be the owner or GHMC, and it has rented the space to them.”
