The second, including former NHAI program director, was imprisoned for four years for accepting bribes

The Special Court of XIV XIV in Chennai convicted two people on Wednesday in response to the CBI case, including the former project director of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), Project Implementation Department (PIA), Villupuram, to four years in prison for grafting charges.

According to the prosecution, the CBI registered H. Bhima Simha Hindupur, then director of the PIU project, based on a written complaint. The defendant asked the complainant to bribe Rs 2 lakh to allow the operation of a restaurant on the NH in Villupuram.

Mr. Simha worked from representatives from his parent company, roads and construction department from 17 April 2013 to 27 October 2017.

The complainant who owns the land near the highway was appointed under the contract, and J. Saravanan, the latter’s personal assistant appointed on a contract basis, handed over the documents to prepare the restaurant’s access permission.

According to the complaint, the CBI placed a trap and caught Simha and Saravanan Red Handsed while accepting the amount of bribes. The CBI filed a fee form for the case on June 7, 2019. After the trial, the special court in the XIV XIV case convicted the defendant and sentenced him to four years in prison. The court also imposed a total fine on the defendants of Rs 40,000.
