Associated Press plans to acquire more land for Amaravati

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government plans to buy more land for the construction of the capital Amaravati. According to reliable sources, after many institutions and companies showed interest in building businesses, the government decided to acquire more land in a phased manner and a large number of farmers came forward.

Initially, the government hoped to develop the capital in a 217 square kilometers area and intended to carry out land acquisitions based on this.

As the state government began to develop the capital by mobilizing funds from various sources, including centers and international agencies, it appears that the CRDA has only 2,000 acres left, with a huge demand for more land. Furthermore, as the state proposes to build an international airport in Amalawati, it is estimated that it will require nearly 4,000 acres of land to develop it.

Although the government had earlier planned to purchase 37,941 acres of land to develop the capital in 28 villages of Thullur, Mangalagiri and Tadepalli Mandals, it acquired 34,689 acres of land as farmers voluntarily allocated with their land, and 3,252 acres have not been acquired.

The state government plans to build a startup project by holding talks with Singapore agencies, so it will retain 1,691 acres of land that were previously allocated to them without any other purpose.

Sources say the state government is engaged in a range of development efforts, and sectors such as education, healthcare, business, entertainment and hotel are attracting investors. It was also found that BITS and Xavier School of Management are seeking to establish land allocations for its institutions in Amaravati. In addition, several central agencies have also found interest in establishing their offices and research centers.

As the state government plans to develop a giant city covering Amaravati, Vijayawada, Guntur, Mangalagiri, Tenali, it is building an inner ring road to Amaravati as well as an outer ring road.
