New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and opposition Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar after his birth anniversary. President Droupadi Murmu led the commemoration, laying a garland on the statue of Dr Ambedkar in the parliament building. In her speech, she praised Baba Sahb’s vision: “Ambedkar’s commitment to justice inspired us to build an inclusive country.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi followed closely, with a portrait of Dr. Ambedkar at a ceremony in New Delhi. He stressed the role of Babasaheb in elevating marginalized communities, noting that “his struggle for dignity continues to influence our vision for India to unite India.”
President Murmu said in her message that despite the great difficulties and the global respect he has won over his outstanding achievements, his identity has established a unique identity. The president added that he believes education is an important tool for social change and empowering the oppressed.
Vice President, Speaker Om Birla and opposition leader Rahul Gandhi participated in a special event in the central hall of the parliament, where they reflected on Dr. Ambedkar’s contribution. Mr. Gandhi emphasized Ambedkar’s vision in developing a constitution that protects all citizens, noting that “Baba Sahib’s ideal reminds us of bridging division and promoting harmony.” Union ministers Kiren Rijiju and Arjun Ram Meghwal also attended the meeting, who described Amgedkar as a “beacon of hope for millions”.
Rajya Sabha Vice-Chairman Harivansh, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta; MPs and former MPs pay tribute to flowers on the portrait of Ambedkar in the central hall. Members of Congress and AICC Secretary-General Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also paid tribute to people and called on people to commit to protecting the Constitution and its values in all circumstances.
