Congress accuses 51,784 vacancies in Tripura department

Despite the proposition of regular recruitment by the state government led by Bharatiya Janata party, a staggering 51,784 positions are currently open in various departments of the Tripura government. The opposition Congress party released a fact sheet on Friday (April 18, 2025) detailing the vacancies in each department.

At a recent budget meeting held by the state legislature, the Indian Congress and the Communist Party (Marxists) repeatedly requested information about the vacancy of the department, but no various reasons were provided by the warehouse bench.

The information released Friday was submitted based on RTI submitted to all departments, including family, education and health. A senior congressional leader said the compiled information showed a total of 51,784 vacancies.

The three bureaus of the Ministry of Education have a total of 11,947 vacancies, mainly teachers. According to information released by Congress, the police department has 7,515 vacancies, while the paramilitary Tripura State Rifle (TSR) has 2,405 vacancies.

The health and family welfare sector also has amazing numbers, with 13,495 vacancies in various identities. This includes doctors (medical staff) with an estimated 1,366 vacancies.

The number of vacancies in the relief and rehabilitation sector was the lowest, with only nine, followed by the transport sector 10.

The list includes a total of 42 departments and government agencies. Congress announced plans to launch protests across the state to raise awareness of the differences between the ruling party’s statements and the reality of employment scenarios.
