New criminal law is underway: Center, NJA, draft SOP for scientific detection and rapid testing

New Delhi: The Ministry of the Interior of the Union and the National Justice Academy (NJA) are developing draft rules and standard operating procedures (SOP) to implement the new criminal law. According to officials, the rules will be adopted by the states and ensure that scientific investigations and evidence are followed by rapid trials.

According to the new law, there are provisions such as scientific research, video conferences, and recording witness statements. “Where will be where the witnesses will appear in another city or place. The NJA, located in Bhopal, has studied various high court orders and consulted the drafts, which have been compiled into these drafts. Each state can be modified according to their needs,” said a senior government official.

Another senior official clarified: “These rules are primarily aimed at provisions that have seven years or more and ensure that investigative officials ensure the same cases and, if not, disciplinary action can be taken against him in accordance with existing regulations.”
Recently, union home minister Amit Shah said the country’s conviction rate was 54%, while three new laws are expected to rise 40% over the next decade.
