DHL suspends $800 for B2C E-Comm shipments to us

Chennai: Global logistics company DHL Group has suspended its B2C goods at a value of more than $800 after the U.S. lowered the value threshold for duty-free e-commerce exports. This will also affect India’s express-based exports.

“We are experiencing multiple days of bus delays from any origin to the United States for an announcement of customs value of over $800, due to recent U.S. customs regulations updates,” DHL said in a statement.

From April 5, 2025, all goods for all goods are declared at $800 as customs value, requiring formal entry into processing – below the $2,500 threshold due to new U.S. Customs regulations.

This change has led to a surge in formal boundaries, with DHL handling all-weather. Despite hard work to expand and manage the increase, goods may experience multiple days of delay.

It added: “From Monday, April 21, 2025, until further notice, we will temporarily suspend the delivery of business-to-consumer (B2C) goods (B2C) to private individuals in the United States, with customs announced in the United States worth more than $800.”

The suspension will not affect B2B and B2C cargo, with its announced customs value below $800, while B2B cargo shipments are worth more than $800, although they may also face delays.

India’s e-commerce exports are only US$400 million to US$500 million. While higher value e-commerce goods may face slack, the export chamber is expected to hit the duty-free route, with the expected growth of $800.
