India focuses on its advantage in Africa, not competing with China: MEA

He stressed that India’s approach stems from its own capabilities, especially in areas such as skill training, low-cost solutions and people-centric fields that are valued by African countries.
He added: “India's skills, India's low-cost solutions have their own advantages and their own value. African countries and leadership are highly appreciated and we hope to deepen India's role in the global south, especially on the continent.”
These comments are at a time when India seeks to expand its presence in Africa through capacity building, infrastructure partnerships and strategic investments. Ravi reiterated the importance of Angola as a key partner and noted that Angola is currently the President of the African Union and plays a central role in regional leadership.
During the visit, India approved a $200 million credit line for defense procurement and signed several Musters with Angola, including agriculture, culture and traditional medicine. Angola also signed a framework agreement to join the International Solar Energy Alliance. On the broader international stage, Ravi noted that both India and Angola support reforms of the United Nations system. “There are collective interests in both to ensure reforms are carried out effectively and reflect contemporary reality,” he said, citing President Laurenko’s recognition of India’s rise and its growing global role. India and Angola also agreed to work together to determine the date of the Fourth India-Africa Forum Summit, which Angola secured the support of mobilizing African leaders during the AU president.
