CPI(M) calls for a full-party meeting chaired by the special session of the parliament

John Brittas, leader of the Rajya Sabha party who represented CPI(M) at the meeting urged the government to convene a full-party meeting in the case of a special session of the Prime Minister and the Parliament.

Against the backdrop of the government’s report “to achieve the expected goals of the action”, Mr. Brittas pointed out that given past experience, it is doubtful if such military operations can target and eliminate terrorist organizations. He stressed that the government should continue to take diplomatic actions and establish international pressure to make terrorist bookings. It should also be seen that the situation will not escalate.

He urged the government to ensure protection of people in the border areas and provide all necessary assistance to those affected by the situation, he asked the government to put all facts before the people and offset the spread of various misinformation. Mr Brittas also said the government has a responsibility to curb the spread of hatred while stressing that terror is not religious. The war on terror cannot be carried out without fighting the spread of hatred.

He also praised the Pahargam and Kashmir people, even after suffering all the discomfort, to show the path to the entire country by unifying the condemnation of terrorism. He asked the government to bring the entire party delegation to Kashmir in due time to support the Kashmir people.
