The Clover Moore Council’s ban on major events held by the public park after the vote sparked anger to prevent damage to the grass.
The City of Sydney voted on Monday to pass tough restrictions that have been in the park run by the council for nearly three years.
The ban was launched in October 2022 after first wreaking havoc on Prince Alfred Park at the Night Market in October 2022.
Events that are only a few days are still allowed, such as Christmas concerts, Yabun Festival and Mardi Gras Fair Day.
Labor MP Olly Arkins has tried to overturn the ban, requiring Victoria Park to be allowed to host up to five games a year instead of the current two events.
The attempt was shut down as the Council provided an extraordinary excuse for “climate change is accelerating severe weather patterns.”
“The increased rainfall during and during outdoor commercial activities has resulted in significant damage to most parts of the park. ”
Adkins believes that the Council is not “recognizing the cultural values of our residents and the interests of the local economy of these on-site opportunities” by enforcing the ban.

“This is to give people a reason to stay outside. We talked about a vibrant 24-hour city, but that actually looks like in practice. ” he said.
Adam Worling, a member of the Clover Moore Council team, claimed that the park should not be used for commercial activities.
He also recalled the significant damage caused by the night noodle market.
“I witnessed the disaster in the night of the night noodles market in 2022,” he said.

He added that after months of rain, the park is still soaked, warning that the loss of large crowds could cost $250,000 to be restored.
The recommended activities should be held in Martin Square or other areas of the University of Sydney.
He called on the state government to make venues like domain names and Tumbalong Park cheaper.

Walling noted that Victoria Park once hosted major concerts for Angels, AC/DC and Cold Chisels and built a stage on the roof of the pool.
“Why do we need to downgrade these wonderful times in Sydney to the past, when artists and audiences were here and now longed to do the stage here? ” he said.
NSW Prime Minister Chris Minns supported the end of the ban and said on Tuesday: “We need to be wise here”.
Meanwhile, Sydney Liberal MP Lyndon Gannon told the Daily Mail that the state government has not done enough.
“It’s a better idea for the Prime Minister: How do we start using the front yard of the opera house?” he said.
“When we use it, remove the ridiculous noise limit on the domain. That brings back vitality immediately.
“In the past, our local park was destroyed by events such as the night noodle market. The residents were very angry.
“But if the operator proposes a validated plan that doesn’t keep the park closed for a few months, then I’m all ears.”
